We highlight lots of great locations on our website but there are just too many to include them all – so here is just one more example of somewhere we can turn the spotlight on for the perfect team event! Twickenham – rugby, rock stars and a lovely cuppa.
Famous as the home of English Rugby but Twickenham has many other famous connections but ancient and modern. Take a look at the picture here on the news page and look behind the marble nymphs cavorting on the rocks and you can see an old 18th Century building called The Dial House. If you like a good cuppa then this is an important place. This house was bought in 1722 by a successful business man who bought a famous London coffee house but swiftly got a reputation for excellent tea. His name? Thomas Twining who created the great tea company which know today. He lived and died in Twickenham and is buried close by in St Mary’s Church. Famous modern connections? A small islet in the Thames known as Eel Pie Island was the location for hotel which became famous in the 1950’s and 1960’s for its club where legendary musicians such as David Bowie and The Rolling Stones performed. So there is much more to Twickenham than “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”!!
